Who We Are

Kenya Safari Lodges & Hotels Ltd (“KSLH”, “The Company”) is a State Corporation that was incorporated under the Kenya Companies Act (Cap 486) in 1966 and owned through shareholding by Kenya Development Corporation Ltd (KDC), Mt. Lodge (MLL) and Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS).

The history of the Company dates back to December1969 when it started operations under the management of Hallways Hotels Ltd, a British hotel management company. Effective 1974, African Tours & Hotels Ltd became the management company of KSLH until June 1998 when the contract ended. Thereafter, KSLH took over the running and management of its 3 properties namely:

  1. Mombasa Beach Hotel
  2. Voi Safari Lodge
  3. Ngulia Safari Lodge

KSLH Key Strategic Direction (2021-2025)

KSLH conducts its business within the requirements of all the relevant Acts of Parliament including the EMCA (1999), the Hotels and Restaurant Act Caps 494 and the State Corporation Act (Cap 484) with the core mandate being;

  • To promote tourist trade in Kenya and beyond, establish facilities for tourist convenience.
  • To publicize and advertise the attractions and amenities for KSLH for tourists.
  • To establish and manage KSLH for the convenience of tourists.
  • To promote wildlife conversation and development
  • To establish any other related business that promote and adds value to KSLH.

The KSLH Strategic plan sets out four broad strategic imperatives to establish a commonly shared vision for the future of KSLH and of its role in the broader mission of enhancing customer value by offering top quality hospitality experiences.

Core Functions

Marketing and Promotion: Ensures promotion of KSLH services in both
domestic and international markets.

  • Regulation and Monitoring: Includes setting standards for its various units to attract and retain high value clients.
  • Product Development and Diversification: Ensures development of market focused products and services that appeal to top-end tourists and business travelers.
  • Manpower Training and Development: Responsible for training of manpower and setting of standards to enable provision of premium customer focused services.
  • Liaison: Liaises with Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife, Tour Operators and Travel Agents for the provision of high-class hospitality.
  • Resource Mobilization: Responsible for seeking for finances from internal and external sources in consultation with Treasury for the approval of the budget.
  • Service: Provide world class hotel and lodge services through well trained customer focused staff, modern facilities equipped with modern hospitality infrastructure.
  • Profitability: Identify, anticipate and satisfy customer requirements profitably.
